Independent Seniors Guide ("we," "us," "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit independentseniors.guide or purchase one of our books, how we use it, and the choices available to you.

Information we collect

We collect the information you give us directly: your name and email address when you create an account, make a purchase, or sign up for a free resource. When you make a payment, your payment details are collected and processed directly by Stripe or PayPal, we do not see, collect, or store your card number or banking details.

We also collect basic technical information automatically when you browse the site, such as your browser type and general location, to keep the site running properly and secure. Specific analytics tools are not yet finalized, see our Cookie Policy for the current status.

To deliver the products you've purchased and give you access to your library
To respond to customer support requests
To send you purchase confirmations and, where you've opted in, updates about new books in the series
To improve the site and understand which content is genuinely useful to readers

Who we share information with

We use trusted third-party services to run this business, and your information may pass through them as part of normal operation:

Stripe and PayPal, to process payments securely
systeme.io, our website, checkout, and customer library platform
Books.by, for paperback order fulfillment and delivery

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Legal basis for processing (GDPR)

Since we sell to customers in the European Union and UK, GDPR applies to those purchases. We process your information on these grounds: contract performance (to deliver what you've purchased), legitimate interests (to prevent fraud and keep the site secure), and your consent (for analytics or marketing cookies, given through the cookie consent banner).

Data retention and international transfers

Purchase records are kept for 7 years, in line with Queensland, Australia record-keeping requirements. Your information may be processed by our service providers (Stripe, PayPal, systeme.io, Books.by) in other countries, including the United States.
